The Lyme Land Trust opened the Riverside Preserve on June 23, 2019 with a ribbon cutting by conservationist Barbara O. David, who donated the preserve to the Lyme Land Trust. The 6-acre property borders the newly restored Eightmile River near the former Ed Bill’s Dam. After Opening remarks, Steve Gephard, CT DEEP Fisheries Biologist, talked about the beneficial effect the removal of Ed Bill’s Dam has had on the health of the river ecosystem, including for the migrating fish population that now has unrestricted passage to ancestral spawning areas.
