Late Summer Milkweed Seedpods by Rochelle Davis, Grassy Hill Preserve
Congratulations to Rochelle Davis for her artistic vision in creating this engaging photograph of the release of milkweed seeds. What makes this image so radiant is Rochelle’s capture of the glow of the soft evening light which illuminates the rim of the pods from behind, making them stand out dramatically from the background. They provide the perfect frame for a collection of newly released light and fluffy seeds about to spiral into flight. Milkweed is one of our most treasured native wildflowers. The milkweeds are the only plants which provide nourishment for the larva of the monarch butterfly. Thank you Rochelle for this wonderful and inspiring image.
